Ellen Sue “Momma Suzie” Blandford, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on February 24, 2024. She was born September 3, 1937, in Tell City, IN, to the late Gearman Wolf and Jane Briggeman Wolf. Sue was a Manager at Executive Inn from 1977 to 2007 when she retired.

Sue was Mom, Nana, Mamaw, and an instant friend to anyone she met. She was fun, thoughtful, and made everyone around her feel special. She loved to read, play casino slots, and enjoyed traveling with her family.

Along with her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Blandford, her sister, Jackie McDaniel, and her grandson, Jeremy Blandford.

Those left to cherish Sue’s memory include her children, Peter Blandford, Janie Stiff (Dean), Vickie McCormick, Dennis Blandford (Darlene Johnson), Joanne Henderson (Eddie), and Tracie Greenwalt (Mike); her honorary sons, Nilesh (Bhavisha) Patel and Al Patel; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Precious Blood Catholic Church, with entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Prayers being said at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass, at Precious Blood Catholic Church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky for all their love and support, especially Kara, Adaline, and Samantha.

  5. I worked with Sue at the E; she would bring me books she had finished that she thought I’d like to read. I have always remembered her kindness and generosity. My sincerest condolences to Sue’s family and loved ones.

  6. What an amazing lady. Always willing to put up with a bunch of us ignorant kids at the Executive with a smile on her face Never met anyone who didn’t love her. She didn’t even fire me when I accidentally caught her hair on fire with a whiskey bottle rocket. Praying for the family and a quiet round of applause for a life well lived. Go rest high Mama Suzie
