Charles Jonathan Lentz

Charles Jonathan Lentz, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on March 3, 2024. He was born November 27, 1953, in Eldorado, IL, to the late Roger and Genevieve Schriber Lentz. Charles was a member of Owensboro and Elsewhere Railroad Club and Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He worked as a supervisor of maintenance at Roundy’s until he retired.

Charles enjoyed trains, sports cars, motorcycles, and boats. Some of his other passions include working with his hands and woodworking. Charles’s love for trains led him to help maintain the train display at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History.

Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Jody Lentz.

Charles is survived by his wife, Ruth Crabtree Lentz, and children, Melanie Lentz, Jonathan Lentz, and Katrina (Step) Melcher.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Eldorado, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of charitable donations made payable to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
