Ben Brumley, 53, of Newburgh passed away January 21, 2023, at his home. He was born in Owensboro on October 3, 1969, to the late John “JW” and Virginia “Jenny” Newbold Brumley. He attended Crossroads Christian Church. Ben worked at Ascension Health in the IT department and worked in IT for over 30 years in various fields from Daymar College to the medical field. Ben accomplished numerous advanced IT Microsoft certifications throughout his career. Anyone that knew Ben knew that he was always the life of the party and found humor in any and all situations. He loved fiercely, especially his family. When Ben did something, he was all in- including his love of Star Wars and Hillsong. His passion was photography and was well known for his action photography at sporting events. His larger-than-life personality and love for others leaves all of us heartbroken. He will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brother David Brumley.
Ben is survived by his wife Susan Gayle Jones Brumley; his children Zachary Brumley of Denver CO, Kelcey (Joseph) Early of Owensboro, Justin (Megan) Brumley of Newburgh, IN, TJ Jones of Boulder CO, Will Brumley and Abbie Brumley both of Newburgh, IN; his grandchildren Aiden Reeves, Grayson Early, Harper Early and Miles Brumley; his siblings Rob (Lora) Brumley of Morgantown, KY and Laura (Tyler) McKinney of Palm Harbor, FL; along with his beloved animals Finn, Milo, Charlie, Bella and Ivy.

  1. To my dearest friend Susan and the rest of the Brumley family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Ben leaves behind a massive emptiness that cannot be filled. He was always such a passionate person in whatever he did. I cannot imagine your sorrow. Prayers for peace and comfort during this time and always.

  2. I want Ben’s family to know that I send my sincere sympathy & prayers that God will comfort you at this difficult time.

  3. Please accept our deepest condolences- we have been and will continue to pray for your entire family. To Susan, Abbie and Will, cherish the precious memories. Ben will be missed- May he rest in peace .

  4. This is a terrible loss for your family and I’m so very sorry. Ben was a light in a dark room; his smile and sense of humor could turn any awkward situation into a completely normal and comfortable environment. He had a knack for making everyone feel like best friends – like the best friends you have in middle or high school. He’d strike up a conversation with anyone, and could probably get them laughing in a matter of minutes. I always admired his love of Star Wars and knowledge of everything Star Wars. He was fun to be around and though we weren’t what I’d call “close friends” I am sad knowing we won’t have any more interactions. He made the world a better place.

  5. Ben always had a smile to greet anyone. May his kindness be remembered and spread around the earth. Our condolences and love to Kelcey, Joseph, Grayson, and Harper Early. Please know we are thinking of you Susan, Zach, Justin, Will, Abbie and all others who loved Ben.

  6. I will not forget Ben as a work colleague, and please know that his absence will be sorely missed. I am grieving with you, and simply put, have no words. All of my thoughts and prayers are with Ben’s family & friends during this difficult time. RIP Ben

  7. We remember Ben from Middle school he was such a wonderful person he was in the Burns Middle school Band, remembering all the fun times in band class and band trips was a wonderful musician, rest in peace Ben

  8. I’m so very sorry to Ben’s family and friends! I went to school with Ben from elementary through high school. Ben was one of the nicest guys I went to school with. I will be praying for you all.

  9. We remember Ben from Middle school he was in the Burns Middle school Band, all the fun times in band class and band trips was a wonderful musician, rest in peace Ben

  10. My prayers to Susan and family. It’s been a long time since our High School rock band. But I remember the good times we had. Ben was very talented and a great guy!

  11. Our prayers are with the entire family. May our Lord provide his peace and strength during this most difficult time.

  12. Ben was a joy to work with – friendly, thoughtful and kind. Your family has my deepest sympathy and I wish you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow.

  13. Ben was always liked and respected when I knew him at Apollo High School. Enjoyed being in the marching band with him. Good years. Later on, he bought my Roland synthesizer after his got stolen. Really wish we had been better at keeping in communication. I am sorry for the loss to all his family and close friends.

  14. Ben,
My dear remote work Buddy! I hope you know what a joy it was to work with you every single day. There was not a single daily meeting where you did not make us all laugh with one of your hats, jokes, t-shirt, action figures, bobble heads, or zoom backdrops. It is with hope that Ben’s family knows that they were the LOVES of his life. His family is all he talked about! He shared so many stories, experiences, pictures, dogs and videos. He light up talking about ALL of you!

Ben be at peace buddy! Everyday here in Michigan, I will look up into the beautiful skies above and wave to you knowing you are probably in an X-Wing making long-range jumps and maneuverable stunts. Thank you for being in my life, thank you for all that taught me at work and about Star Wars and thank you for just being you!
    With Love,
Collette Bowman and Lewis the Hound Dog!

  15. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. The Bickett and the Brumley’s were like family growing up. Ben was a sweet kid. My deepest sympathy to Rob and Laura. May Ben rest in peace.

  16. Sorry for your loss Brumley family. Ben was an amazing guy and will be truly missed. All of you are in our prayers here at the Decker house.

  17. Bobbie Gale & Norman Woosley
So sorry for your loss. You’re all in our thoughts and prayers 🙏🏻

  18. I have no words. My biggest condolences to the Brumleys and the rest of his family. I am sorry for your loss. I didn’t know him very well, but I looked up to him as a parent from school. He was nerdy, funny, and made me feel at home. I mainly knew him as a classmate’s father and photographer, but he was so much more than that. He will be missed. I’m sorry for your loss Will, Susan, and Abby. (And the dogs.) May the force and the Lord be with you.

  19. To Rob and Laura, we are in shock after learning of Benjamin’s death. He was only a bit over a year older than I, your 2nd cousin Geoffrey Little, and up until Aunt Virginia’s decline, we were kept in close contact because that lady was a straight shooter who did not keep secrets from us; she was a treasured “open book”. We believe that Benjamin was Aunt Virginia’s very favorite of all the grandkids, though she loved you all deeply.
We lost contact for the most part after J.W. moved to Newburgh, although we tried. My grieving today is that I desperately want to tell my late husband, George Wm. (Bill) Little, Jr., about this tragic happening. I am not able to be with you in person to hug, laugh, and share old, old, old stories. I will be with you in spirit.

  20. Many prayers going out to the family and I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Ben and really enjoyed his sense of humor and kindness. I know his family meant everything to him, he spoke of them often. He will be missed, fly high and rest in peace.

  21. Susan, we are saddened to learn of your loss. Ben was a great guy. You and your family have our sincere sympathy. May God wrap His comforting arms around each of you.
