David Hamrick, 72, of Owensboro passed away February 18, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born February 18, 1951, in Jay, Florida to the late JD and Idell Beagles Hamrick. David was a member of the Next Level Church of God. He was a retired truck driver and proudly served in the United States Army, National Guard, and Special Forces.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dean Lister Hamrick; daughter, Brenda (Richard) Khune; his brothers, Eddie Hamrick, Carlton Hamrick, and John Hamrick; and his sisters, Linda (Billy Jack) Jackson, Christine Hamrick, and Ernestine Hamrick Peterson.
After the loss of his first wife, he was able to find love again with Anita Hamrick whom he married. Also surviving David are his children, Martha (Randy) Sheltra, Lisa Hamrick Ewald, Korey Hamrick Ewald, Stephanie Hamrick, Donald (Rhonnie) Garrett, Jeremey Garrett, Tisha Wayman; his grandchildren, Rebecca Sheltra; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and siblings, Katherine Nelson Mavis Reeves and Patsy Hamrick Watson.
Private services will be held at a later date.

  1. David will be greatly missed. He was very loved by his church family. We will miss the hugs and his signature statement, “I’ve been blessed by the best.” We were all blessed to know David.

  2. David will be missed!! Our Next Level Church family won’t be the same without him! He always made sure to hug everyone and try to make us laugh to put a smile on our faces! He alway told everyone “I’m Blessed.” No matter how he was feeling! Our prayers are with the family

    • He was an awesome Step Dad. He was always there for anyone at anytime. He showed his love for God and people everyday. He would do anything for anyone. He was alway’s smiling. We will miss you til we meet again Sad.

  3. David will be missed by everyone who ever met him. He was such a wonderful man and never had a cross word for anyone. His smiles, positivity, and big hugs will be forever missed!! Y’all are in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. I remember sneaking out on Saturday mornings to go to Hardee’s for biscuits n gravy and bringing mama home some buttered biscuits.

    Then after losing her, we’d go to Waffle House and just talk.

    He taught me self accountability and personal responsibility, despite being a trucker for most of my childhood. And mad respect to him for serving Special Forces for 10 years, so I wouldn’t have to.

    I love you daddy. Happy birthday. And say hi to mama for me in Heaven.
