What do I do at an Arrangement Conference?

Your funeral director will arrange a time that is comfortable and convenient for you and your family to gather to make final arrangements.

What do I bring to an Arrangement Conference?

Recent Photograph: This picture will be used for the newspaper, memorial folders and to assist our staff in preparing your loved one for the funeral period.

Clothing: All normal clothing items are requested, including undergarments, other than the exception of shoes. An outfit of your choice would preferably be closed at the neckline and have long sleeves.

Jewelry and Personal Items: Any items can be brought to the arrangement conference or on the day of visitation.

Military Discharge Papers: This will assist in processing any service-connected benefits in which you may qualify. This form is commonly referred to as Form DD 214. Any honorably discharged veteran is entitled to a flag, to be folded or draped according to your wishes.

Life Insurance Policies: We will assist you in filing any claims on life insurance policies with any company. Please note that we notify Social Security for you. Death Benefits are only paid in the case of a surviving spouse. Contacting Social Security will also stop payment on upcoming checks.

Why should I have a funeral?

A funeral is a good way for your family to have closure. It allows time for family and friends to gather together in remembrance of their loved one, honoring their life and legacy.

Can we hold a funeral service somewhere other than the funeral home?

Yes. A person may choose almost anywhere to have a funeral. Although most traditional funerals take place in the funeral home, church, mausoleum, or graveside, people can have them in a friend or family member’s home, a park, or even a reception hall.

How much will our services cost?

Every item you select will be fully explained in detail by one of our licensed funeral directors. Many different options and packages will be offered to you and your family to help make things easier and cut any cost. Feel free to contact us at 270.684.9891 and we’d be happy to schedule a time for you to come in or have one of our funeral directors meet you at your residence or another location of your choice to further answer any questions you may have.

What is cremation and can I have a traditional service if I’m cremated?

Cremation is a process where the body is exposed to intense heat. Cremated remains may be kept in special receptacles called urns, buried in the ground or placed in a niche in a mausoleum, and some cemeteries or churches have special gardens where cremated remains may be scattered. Scattering cremains has an appeal but should be carefully considered. It is a permanent decision and survivors may feel regret if no permanent memorial is established.

Cremation may seem strange to some people, but we feel it is because people think cremation limits options available to them. Just like traditional funerals, options are always available, and each service is designed to each family’s desires and wishes. Prior to the cremation there may be visitation or a funeral ceremony with the body present, just like another funeral ceremony you might have attended. For families who choose this option, we provide a casket that also functions as a cremation container.
